New York! New York! New York!

After almost 2 hours flight delayed in Chicago, we finally reached Newark Airport in New York. Taxi ride from the airport to West 71st Street cost me USD 71.00.

We cheched into Hotel Riverside Studio in 71st St. It is an old building with a simple room with two queen side beds. The pictures in their webpage looks much nicer. Anyway, the location is great as it is not too far away from the 72nd St Metro Station.

After almost four years (2 years in Taylor Subang, 2 years in Drake University, Iowa), my son is finally graduating from Drake University, Iowa with two degrees, Actuarial Science and Finance. The question now is, What's next!

Jia Hao brought us to the Des Moines town. It was more like a ghost town, with most of the shops closed on Saturday, including fastfood restaurants.

When I told my kids we are going to the Universal Studio, their reactions were "Both of you!?". Ya, we thought, why not! Age is not really matter here. Since we were already at the door step, why stop step in and have fun. In fact, what fun we had! We went in at around 10.30 am after breakfast in the Universal City, we practically running from one attraction to another without really stopping even to catch our breath.

In deed, Universal Studio is not just for the kids, but also for the "matured Kids" like us!

Far, far away...

Travelling to the United States has alsways not been my favorites due to the long journey. On May 9, 2009, after the long 20 hours flight, together with my wife, we finally arrived in Los Angeles. Arriving at the LA airport has been a pleasant surprise to both of us. The expection of the worst security check I ever encountered did not materialise. In fact, after collecting our luggages, we just walked passed the security without any trouble.

Another thing I noticed was that the only one that were wearing masks (due to the A flu) were the foreigners, especially the Taiwanese.

This is supposed to be a free and easy trip for both of us. I did not really plan any thing except the airline tickets and hotel bookings. After arriving at the airport, we asked around and took the metro bus to Hollywood. It was an interesting journey as the bus took us through some interesting neighbourhood in LA. We also saw some interesting characters in the bus.

After checked into Motel 6 in Hollywood (not too bad for budget travellers), we decided to take a walk around the famous Kodak Theater.
